Middle School Computer Teacher Mr. Mark Long plans to retire and leave the Cameron school district at the end of this school year. He has been teaching for 31 years. He started out teaching at Knob Noster and then Eagleville before he was offered a job here at Cameron and he was pleased to take the job.

“Mr. Long has been a great addition to the Cameron School District. He is a wonderful teacher. He has helped the students very much and has been here for many years. He has learned to teach the students with new technology that has evolved over the years,” said CMS Principal Mr. Jay Albright.

Technology has indeed changed a lot since Mr. Long started teaching. When he first started there was only one computer at Knob Noster. Now there are computers and smart boards in almost every classroom in the district. He never thought technology would evolve so much before it came time for him to retire.

“I planned to retire for the past three years. I had all the paper worked filled out last year and decided to wait and turn the paperwork in this year,” he said. “My favorite thing about teaching is the students. I likes interacting with the students, teaching them something they can use later in life.”

“He’s a great teacher,” said Middle School Librarian Mrs. Jane Rainey. “He knows what he has to teach the students and how to teach them in the easiest ways. He makes sure the students are ready for high school and all the typing involved with essay papers for many different classes.”

Mr. Long has seen many changes in the Cameron School District. He’s been a great teacher and many people are going to miss him. Though he will be leaving, there is no denying the great impact he has had on students.
