On January 11, 2012 Key Club is sponsoring a fundraiser for Mr. Laughlin, Weir High's shop teacher. The students can wear their hats if they pay $1, which will be donated to Mr. Laughlin to help him with his medical expenses. The tickets will be sold during first block on January 11.

The students can also  just donate money for the cause and not wear a hat. Along with the teachers who can donate money and dress down, wearing jeans and  t-shirts. There's going to be a card which will have the signatures of all the students' and teachers' who donated, each class will receive a card. These will then be given to Mr. Laughlin.

Mrs. Kimmins and Mr. Samoraj decided to do this fundraiser before Christmas when they found out Mr. Laughlin was sick. They are doing this because it's the most easiest way to make money, it's fun, and the students would want to participate.

Weir High and Oak Glen are both participating in this fundraiser. Since Mr. Laughlin wasn't only just Weir Highs Tech. Ed teacher, he was also a teacher at Oak Glen. Both schools are going to compete to see who raises the most money for him.

The staff at Weir High has taken a liking to Mr. Laughlin through out his time here. Mrs. Ruiz stated, "How do I put it in words, If I was in a bad mood he  always made me feel better."

Mrs. Dulaney, Assistance Principal at Weir High School, said, "Mr. Laughlin is a very kind, warm-spirited man who always had students' best interests in mind. He is liked by all staff at Weir High School."

Weir High School collected about $1300!
